Today I was in the studio creating some lovely mail art that I will be sending out soon. Usually I will only stamp or doodle on envelopes, but this time I decided to use my Gelli Plate to create some incredible patterns and backgrounds.

I'm really loving using my altered book art journal. The pages are holding up wonderfully and the smaller size is great for quick creations. I recently received from DecoArt their new Media Line Fluid Paints, so I thought I would try them out on this journal.

Our Christmas in July celebration is almost over and I couldn't let it end without creating a canvas with some seasonal art. But, this time I'm not using my art journal or a canvas. I've been given the opportunity to use a repurposed piece of pallet wood from Redeemwood.

I couldn't wait to get started journaling in my new altered book journal that I had just created. See tutorial here. I decided to start trying different mediums, since I'd never journaled in a plain page book before, I wanted to see what worked best.

Recently I saw a You Tube video on how to alter a book into an art journal. So, off to Goodwill I went to find some books to alter. I already had some vintage books that I use for home decor and in my booth display during craft shows, but I wanted to preserve those. I picked up a couple of books from the 1980's that were the right size and the pages had just enough vintage coloring to them.
